چکیده
We present experimental results on two-qubit Rydberg-blockade quantum gates and entanglement in a twodimensional qubit array. Without postselection against atom loss we achieve a Bell state fidelity of 0.73 ± 0.05. The experiments are performed in an array of single Cs atom qubits with a site to site spacing of 3.8 μm. Using the standard protocol for a Rydberg-blockade CZ gate together with single qubit operations we create Bell states and measure their fidelity using parity oscillations. We analyze the role of ac Stark shifts that occur when using two-photon Rydberg excitation and show how to tune experimental conditions for optimal gate fidelity.

Deterministic entanglement of two neutral atoms via Rydberg blockade
We demonstrate the deterministic entanglement of two individually addressed neutral atoms using a Rydberg blockade mediated controlled-NOT gate. Parity oscillation measurements reveal a Bell state fidelity of F = 0.58 ± 0.04, which is above the entanglement threshold of F = 0.5, without any correction for atom loss, and F = 0.71 ± 0.05 after correcting for background collisional losses. The fid...
متن کاملObservation of Rydberg blockade between two atoms
Blockade interactions whereby a single particle prevents the flow or excitation of other particles provide a mechanism for control of quantum states, including entanglement of two or more particles. Blockade has been observed for electrons1–3, photons4 and cold atoms5. Furthermore, dipolar interactions between highly excited atoms have been proposed as a mechanism for ‘Rydberg blockade’6,7, whi...
متن کاملDemonstration of a neutral atom controlled-NOT quantum gate.
We present the first demonstration of a CNOT gate between two individually addressed neutral atoms. Our implementation of the CNOT uses Rydberg blockade interactions between neutral atoms held in optical traps separated by >8 microm. Using two different gate protocols we measure CNOT fidelities of F=0.73 and 0.72 based on truth table probabilities. The gate was used to generate Bell states with...

We show that the use of shaped pulses improves the fidelity of a Rydberg-blockade two-qubit entangling gate by several orders of magnitude compared to previous protocols based on square pulses or optimal control pulses. Using analytical derivative removal by adiabatic gate (DRAG) pulses that reduce excitation of primary leakage states and an analytical method of finding the optimal Rydberg bloc...

We demonstrate experimentally that a single Rb atom excited to the 79d 5/2 level blocks the subsequent excitation of a second atom located more than 10 µm away. The observed probability of double excitation of ∼ 30 % is consistent with a theoretical model based on calculations of the long range dipole-dipole interaction between atoms. Blockade interactions whereby a single particle prevents the...
